I am not Insane!

Recently, at home while browsing for a book through the bookshelves what we have found with my brother has amazed us :) The novel I had tried to write at the age of 12!
It is a 30 page incomplete book full of funny incidents, though it has a preface :)
It was a science-fiction about a man from the future who wrote a diary and send it to our time for us to read. The narrator is also the hero here who wakes up in a lunatic asylum one day and as the story goes he finds out that he was not actually insane, but the earth was frozen via a galactic weapon for some hundred decades and as a result all living things on earth paused living. Soon after capturing the earth resources, aliens melt the ice and let the lives of homo-sapiens continue, but as slaves, of whom the minds were erased.
Can you imagine? I wrote it in 1998. :) I really felt like respect to my childish creativity, 'cause I feel kinda like loosing it as days pass by.

My brother suggested me to finish the book today. So I thought a few weeks for it walking through the streets and decided to work on it. But this time it is gonna be a philosphical book, not a science fiction. Hence, I will omit the parts with the aliens :)

I remember writing those sentences in Didim, where we used to go on holidays when I was a little child...

The Curse of Bilkent University

Hi, everyone :)
Today, I will share another game that I tried to developed in 2006, using Flash. It was going to be a standard adventure game with all the speech, puzzle sort of things, collecting items, putting them in your inventory and using them in case of a necessity, while solving the problems occuring as the story develops.
I named it: "The Curse of Bilkent University" :) Obviously I was inspired by the magnificant game "Curse of Monkey Island", which really is a cult game.

I tried to keep the senario entertaining and mysterious as well.
You know what? During sophomore I really looked like the the guy on the left :)
I used actionscript 2.0 for the programming and designed and animated the characters all by myself.

Studying engineering, I never had the time to complete the game and eventually lost my courage. But I know one thing that I learned a lot those days...

Game-Programming

In 2006, I was  greatly interested in object oriented game-programming, so a friend of mine and I created a roleplaying-like game using Java Applet called "Civa Cevdet", working approximately 14 hours a day for 5 days, many of which were the most entertaining moments ever.

At first, we had a story which was limited to the misery of a guy trying to find the princes, so that he could bang her. :)

Later we moved on. We have created labyrinth-like scenes and different creatures with different attributes. The most entertaining part of course was programming the artificial intelligence of our artificial-creatures who lived just to eat our hero.

I was also the one who created the graphics and used 3d studio max for the graphics and animations, while my witty friend also created a "stage-designing" software adding different rooms, sound-effects and a timer to each stage. You can play an old version of the game from here.

Below you can see the in-game view, where you can move the hero in x,y axes and fight the creatures, while trying to find the princess. :)
